About the Company
The mining industry has steadily become worse at finding new ore deposits, requiring >10X more capital to make discoveries compared to 30 years ago. KoBold builds AI models for mineral exploration and deploys those models—alongside our novel sensors—to guide decisions on KoBold-owned-and-operated exploration programs. We have become the largest independent mineral exploration company and the largest exploration technology developer, utilizing data scientists and software engineers from leading technology companies to lead programs with our exploration geologists.
About The Position
KoBold operates exploration programs across Africa, North America, Europe, and Australia. As HSE Lead, Programs and Systems, you will design and own the HSE management system, digital tooling, and training infrastructure that keep people safe across every jurisdiction we operate in. You will build the systems, standards, and software that empower safety ownership at the field level.
Additional Responsibilities
- Own the KoBold HSE Management System end to end, including architecture, document hierarchy, review frequency, and continuous improvement aligned to ISO 45001.
- Own KoBold's digital HSE stack, including DATS, Forwood, and any additional platforms. Lead vendor evaluation, workflow configuration, integrations, and administration.
- Design HSE analytics that field teams actually use, including leading and lagging indicators, real-time dashboards, and communications.
- Own KoBold's AI in HSE strategy, identifying high-leverage applications that optimize or replace existing software tools and facilitate risk assessment.
- Own the global document library for all HSE standards, programs, and operating procedures.
- Own the global training strategy and the Learning Management System, including role-based curriculum, certification tracking, compliance reporting, and content building.
- Design cultural initiatives that engage field crews and contractors, including recognition, campaigns, and safety moments.
- Partner with regional HSE Managers and Field Operations leaders to provide the platform, standards, and analytics they need to deliver in the field.
- Directly support HSE for field campaigns, requiring intermittent travel to field projects across the globe.
What You Will Bring (Must Have)
- Five or more years in HSE with meaningful time owning or administering enterprise HSE software (e.g., DATS, Intelex, Cority, Enablon).
- Demonstrated experience building or materially improving an HSE management system aligned to ISO 45001, ANSI Z10, or an equivalent framework.
- Track record designing HSE training programs and administering a Learning Management System.
- Comfort working across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory regimes.
- Strong written communication skills for creating standardized documentation.
- Ability to lead through influence, driving change across regional operations, field teams, and executive stakeholders.
- Proficiency with document control platforms and modern collaboration stacks such as SharePoint, Confluence, and Google Workspace.
- Ability to travel to remote exploration sites and pass site-specific medical fitness screenings.
