Description
As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will act as a technical and strategic leader driving the design and evolution of infrastructure, tools, and DevOps practices that enable reliable, scalable, and high-impact systems. You are expected to go beyond execution—defining problems, leveraging AI to enhance workflows, and delivering solutions that create measurable business value in real-world environments.
Given the seniority of this role, you are expected to ramp quickly and contribute early to architectural discussions and implementation planning. You will progressively take ownership of assigned systems and provide technical leadership across initiatives as your understanding of the environment deepens.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading DevOps strategy and collaborating cross-functionally to improve system performance, delivery, and developer experience
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure aligned with business needs
- Identify and implement AI opportunities to enhance DevOps operations—improving log analysis, incident triage, alert summarization, documentation, runbooks, release notes, backlog refinement, reporting, and knowledge retrieval.
- Ensure responsible and secure AI usage by maintaining privacy, auditability, and proper handling of internal data.
- Partner with leadership and engineering teams to prototype AI-enabled DevOps improvement that reduce manual work and accelerate decision-making while preserving engineering judgment.
- Optimizing performance, cost, and scalability using real-world usage data, metrics, and risk-aware decision-making
- Mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
- Supporting production operations, including on-call responsibilities and timely incident response
Requirements
- Strong DevOps experience with end-to-end ownership and proven project leadership
- Expertise in AWS and cloud architecture, including scalable and fault-tolerant systems
- Experience with GitOps-based deployment workflows (Bitbucket), infrastructure as code using Terraform, containerization with Docker, and CI/CD pipeline setup and scripting using tools like Jenkins.
- Experience using AI tools in development, automation, or infrastructure workflows
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability (e.g., Datadog) and experience resolving production issues using data
- Experience with Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, WAF, traffic routing) and networking (VPNs, IDS/IPS such as SonicWall/OpenVPN)
- Experience with Event-based architecture: Kafka, AMQP, RabbitMQ
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows systems, including administration, virtualization (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware), and scripting (Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket)
- Strong understanding of security, scalability, performance, and cost optimization
