About the role

We’re looking for a Principal Growth & Product Analyst to become a high-leverage analytical partner to our Product and Marketing teams.

This is not a reporting ownership role. It’s not a data science role either.

This role exists to help Smallpdf answer difficult growth and product questions that don’t have obvious answers:

  • How much incremental value are our acquisition channels driving?

  • Which product behaviors meaningfully predict monetization?

  • Where are we losing potential long-term customers?

  • What are the key levers that drive conversion?

  • What’s the best experiment design for a change with no real control group?

You’ll work across the full user journey - from acquisition (SEO, paid search, direct, partnerships) to activation, conversion, retention, and monetization.

One week you might investigate how much incremental new ARR paid search is truly driving vs. cannibalizing from SEO. The next, you could be figuring out what’s causing a dip in conversion rate to paying customers in Spain.

Some questions won’t have clean answers. Some analyses will challenge assumptions the business already believes. That’s part of the job.

We’re not looking for someone who waits for perfectly defined questions with clear guidance of exactly how to investigate them.

We’re looking for someone who sees patterns others miss, becomes obsessed with understanding them, and helps the business make better decisions because of it.

Responsibilities

  • Own deep, high-impact investigations and analyses across Product and Marketing

  • Analyze the full acquisition → activation → conversion → retention funnel

  • Investigate questions around:

    • incrementality

    • attribution and cannibalization

    • monetization behavior

    • funnel leakage

    • growth efficiency

  • Partner closely with Marketing leaders and Product Managers leaders, providing insights for business-critical decisions

  • Proactively identify anomalies, behavioral patterns, and hidden growth opportunities

  • Translate complex analyses into clear takeaways and recommendations

  • Support experimentation by helping define success metrics, evaluating impact, and interpreting results - including in cases where clean control groups aren’t possible (e.g. SEO)

  • Contribute to improving metric clarity and analytical consistency across teams

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science teams when deeper technical implementation is required

About you

  • You’re a strong data analyst with 4+ years of experience, including in growth or marketing analytics

  • You have hands-on experience with:

    • SQL

    • incrementality analysis

    • conversion funnel analysis

    • A/B experimentation

    • attribution tracking

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete data. You know that some of the most important business questions can’t be answered perfectly - but still need to be answered thoughtfully.

  • You can independently structure investigations and drive them from question → analysis → recommendation

  • You communicate clearly, challenge assumptions respectfully, and care more about understanding what actually drives growth than producing polished reporting.

  • Bonus points if you have experience with:

    • product analytics

    • SEO analytics

    • multi-touch attribution and/or MMM implementation

    • product-led growth (PLG) SaaS

    • subscription businesses

    • synthetic experiment design suited to messy real-world environments
