Role Summary
This role is responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing the core operating systems that power the company’s tutor marketplace and service delivery infrastructure. The focus of the role is the development of the tutor supply engine and operational reliability layer that directly drive revenue activation, tutor utilization, service quality, and operational efficiency.
This is a transformation-focused role, not a maintenance or support function. You will replace manual and reactive operational processes with scalable systems, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
Core System Ownership
The role owns the development and continuous optimization of:
- Tutor Supply Engine: Recruitment, screening, training, activation, and utilization systems to increase speed to activation and conversion rates.
- Reliability Layer: Systems for missed lesson detection, monitoring, and automated substitution workflows.
- Tutor Marketplace Mechanics: Matching logic between tutors and students, supply-demand balancing, and allocation systems.
- Utilization Optimization: Building systems to track and maximize tutor hours and retention.
- Human + AI Hybrid Delivery: Integrating AI for quality control, anomaly detection, and performance insights.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone operational processes and implement automated solutions.
- Build and maintain systems that operate with real-time or near real-time data for visibility into tutor activity and session health.
- Design scalable backend systems and workflows supporting marketplace dynamics.
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub) for quality monitoring, exception handling, and process automation.
- Work directly with Operations, Teacher Recruitment, and Product stakeholders to translate pain points into shipped features.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role.
- Strong experience with modern frontend development using React, TypeScript, and Vite.
- Experience building scalable backend APIs using NestJS.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and Prisma ORM.
- Experience working with AWS services including S3, SES, and cloud-based infrastructure management.
