About the Role
At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. As a Software Engineer for TimescaleDB Enterprise, you’ll help build and support our on-prem enterprise platform: a solution that enables customers to deploy, manage, secure, and operate TimescaleDB in their own environments. This is a high-growth role for a builder who wants to help develop both the product and technical foundations of an evolving enterprise offering.
What you will be responsible for in this role
- Learning from and contributing to the design and development of TimescaleDB Enterprise, our on-prem deployment and management platform.
- Developing core product capabilities, including management consoles and user-facing tooling (React + TypeScript), backend APIs and services (Go), deployment workflows and configuration management (Ansible), and operational tooling for production PostgreSQL databases.
- Writing tests at every level, from unit tests to automated end-to-end testing against real infrastructure.
- Working with senior engineers to understand operational requirements and translate them into pragmatic product solutions.
- Collaborating with Platform Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Support, and Sales Engineering.
- Leveraging AI tools daily to accelerate development, debugging, and product iteration workflows.
Technical experience that will help you succeed
- Foundational software engineering experience (roughly 1-3 years), ideally with exposure to backend services, developer platforms, or infrastructure tools.
- Working knowledge of Go or TypeScript, or a track record of picking up new languages quickly.
- Comfort with Linux fundamentals: the shell, SSH, services, containers, and basic networking.
- Familiarity and growing proficiency with AI coding tools.
- Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL, distributed systems, or deployment automation is a strong plus.
