About the Role
Grafana Labs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Observability department. You will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our Cloud Observability product suite, enabling customers to collect, visualize, and analyze data from hundreds of cloud provider services. This role involves working with Kubernetes monitoring, cloud-native infrastructure, and contributing to open-source projects like Alloy, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Beyla.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-quality, scalable integrations for various infrastructure components, databases, and applications.
- Create middleware components, SDKs, and libraries to simplify the maintenance of observability solutions.
- Collaborate with product teams to align features with customer needs and product strategy.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you build and maintain.
- Represent Grafana Labs in open-source forums, working groups, and community events.
- Mentor team members and contribute to the technical direction and long-term vision of the observability suite.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with at least one major programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Rust) with a willingness to learn Go.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud provider, including core services, identity models, and networking.
- Strong experience with cloud-based software development, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or OpenTelemetry.
- Proven track record of driving projects from ideation to production.
- Experience participating in incident management and on-call rotations.
