The Role
As BD Manager for our API product line, you’ll own the end-to-end sales cycle for CoinMarketCap’s data API offerings. You’ll work with exchanges, DeFi protocols, fintech apps, data aggregators, and institutional clients to help them leverage CMC’s market-leading crypto data through our API solutions.
What You’ll Do
- • Own the full sales cycle for CMC’s API products — from prospecting and demo to close and expansion
- • Identify and engage new API customers across exchanges, DeFi protocols, fintech platforms, data aggregators, and institutional/TradFi firms
- • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified API opportunities, tracking progress and forecasting revenue
- • Understand client data needs and propose the right API tier, endpoints, and integration approach
- • Serve as the primary point of contact between API clients and internal teams (product, engineering, support) for onboarding and issue resolution
- • Expand revenue from existing API clients by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
- • Stay current on competitor API offerings, pricing, and market trends to sharpen CMC’s positioning
- • Collaborate with Product to relay client feedback and influence the API roadmap
What You Bring
- • 3+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally selling API/data/SaaS products
- • Strong network within the crypto industry — exchanges, DeFi, fintech, or institutional crypto
- • Solid understanding of APIs, data products, and how technical buyers evaluate them
- • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
- • Fluency in English (native level); additional languages are a bonus
- • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
- • Strong organizational skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- • BS/BA in business, marketing, computer science, or a related field
Nice to Have
- • Experience selling crypto market data or financial data APIs specifically
- • Familiarity with REST/WebSocket APIs and developer documentation
- • Existing relationships with exchanges, trading desks, or institutional crypto firms
- • Experience with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
