Role Summary

The Commissions & Payroll Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, including regular salary payments, commissions calculations, bonus payments, and to ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial information for internal and external stakeholders. We seek an experienced accounting professional with payroll processing and commissions calculating experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Calculate commissions payments on a monthly and quarterly basis in a accordance with approved compensation plans.
  • Reconcile commissions payouts against bookings and revenue data, resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to employees or management inquiries regarding commission or payroll calculations and provide supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate annual updates to Commissions Plan as needed and assist with drafting Individual Compensation Plans for sales team members.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors and assist in preparing financial analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • 2+ years in payroll, commissions or accounting operations.
  • Payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state and global environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
  • Experience using Sage Intacct, Rippling, Tipalti, Carta, Salesforce, and Google Sheets preferred.
