About the Role
CGS is seeking a Financial Investigator to join our team providing legal support and investigative services to a large federal agency. We are looking for candidates who are excited to contribute to government innovation and possess the skills to anticipate the needs of complex investigative matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct complex civil or criminal investigations regarding misuse of public, private, or insurance funds.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of relevant facts, evidence, and financial records.
- Examine books, ledgers, payroll records, billing statements, and computer data to identify violations of federal law.
- Develop and analyze evidence from various sources to support prosecutorial objectives and build proof for litigation.
- Conduct asset investigations and verify employment to ensure the ability to pay monetary penalties.
- Prepare interim and final reports on the progress of investigations and assist in creating audio-visual materials for trial.
- Provide testimony in court and prepare affidavits as required.
- Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and supervisory attorneys to identify statutory violations and determine the direction of investigations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of experience in planning and conducting complex civil or criminal investigations.
- Working knowledge of current investigative techniques, including the use of commercial databases.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain the requisite background investigation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience in law enforcement or with large federal agencies is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in analyzing and presenting large volumes of data using common software programs.
