About Us
Clasp is a venture-backed, mission-driven startup transforming access to education and career pathways. We are revolutionizing the way employers attract and retain critical talent and the way colleges and universities support their students through education financing. We meaningfully connect employers, educational institutions, and learners to drive mutual benefit through our Clasp Talent and Clasp Finance business lines.
What We Need
We're hiring a Junior Fullstack Software Engineer to join the Clasp Finance engineering team. You'll be working within a small, high-ownership group building the operational tooling, data pipelines, and product features that power a real lending platform used by colleges and universities across the country. This role is a great fit if you have a few years of professional experience, have shipped meaningful features end-to-end, and are ready to take on more ownership.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain features across the Clasp Finance platform — including loan origination workflows, school-facing administrative tools, and servicing and collections functionality.
- Write clean, tested Python and TypeScript/JavaScript code, including unit tests.
- Contribute to data pipeline work: writing reliable ETL jobs and building observable data flows.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) as a force multiplier for testing, refactoring, and scaling output.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning.
- Learn and apply consumer lending regulatory context (TILA, ECOA, etc.) as an engineering constraint.
- Write documentation and manage technical communication effectively.
What You'll Need
- 0–3 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent portfolio.
- Solid fluency in Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Introductory familiarity with cloud infrastructure or serverless functions (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions).
- AI-native workflow habits with strong instincts for verifying AI output.
- Exceptionally high attention to detail for financial platforms.
Nice to Have
- Prior exposure to fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
- Familiarity with TILA, ECOA, or state lending regulations.
- Experience integrating with loan servicers or payment processors.
