About JetBrains
We create intelligent software development tools for developers and teams. More than 15 million users, over 300,000 companies, and 88 of the Fortune Global Top 100 rely on our products to solve real, complex problems. Our mission is simple: make development teams more productive and AI adoptable at scale.
What you’ll do
YouTrack has grown from an online bug tracker into a comprehensive project management system used by teams worldwide. As our user base expands, maintaining top-tier performance and reliability is critical. We need a QA Performance Engineer who can help implement our performance testing strategy and uncover issues before they reach our users.
You will join a collaborative team of 46 people who use Scrum and speak English as their shared working language. In this role, you won’t just run tests – you will influence how new features are planned and released. You'll work closely with developers to recreate complex user scenarios and build long-term confidence in our platform.
Day to day, you will:
- Participate in performance testing and analysis using both manual and automated approaches.
- Write new automated performance tests and maintain the existing test suite.
- Reproduce complex performance bugs and issues reported by users.
- Configure performance test invocations as an integrated part of our continuous integration (CI) cycles.
- Collaborate on functionality planning, incident investigation, and product releases.
What you’ll bring
- A deep care for software quality and a refusal to settle for "good enough."
- Strong analytical thinking to track down the root cause of systemic issues rather than just treating symptoms.
- The ability to work independently, manage your own priorities, and take full ownership of outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills to discuss technical problems transparently with developers.
- A collaborative mindset to work seamlessly across distributed teams and time zones.
- Curiosity and a drive to leave systems cleaner and faster than you found them.
What you’ll need
- Proven experience running and analyzing both manual and automated performance tests.
- Solid understanding of HTTP and TCP/IP protocols.
- Proficiency with performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
- Experience testing web applications manually and via automation frameworks like Selenium or Playwright.
- Familiarity with teamwork tools, including issue trackers, version control systems, and CI/CD servers.
- Comfort working in command-line environments using tools like Bash, grep, SSH, and curl.
- Strong spoken and written English language skills.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, REST API testing, or platform-specific performance monitoring (top, htop, perfmon, etc.) is a strong plus.
What success looks like
Success means earning trust through solid technical decisions and uncovering regressions early. You’ll know you’re succeeding when our CI cycle catches performance drops automatically, user-reported performance bottlenecks decrease, and the team relies on your insights during feature planning to keep YouTrack fast and stable.
