What We Need
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Clasp Finance engineering team, a small, high-impact group working at the intersection of financial operations, product, and data. You will own hard problems end-to-end, building the operational tooling, data pipelines, and product features that make a lending platform run. We need a detail-oriented engineer who uses AI tools deliberately to move fast and thrives in high-ownership environments.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain features across the loan origination platform, from application intake through servicing and collections.
- Build internal operational tooling to empower the team to manage loans, configure programs, and respond to borrower needs.
- Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
- Apply AI-assisted development techniques to scale your impact and ship higher-quality software.
- Collaborate with compliance and legal to implement regulatory requirements (TILA, ECOA) as engineering constraints.
- Develop and instrument data pipelines that power credit modeling and portfolio analytics.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong fluency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience building operational or internal tooling for fintech, lending, or regulated domains.
- AI-native workflow proficiency using tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude as a force multiplier.
- Familiarity with Django (or comparable Python frameworks) and React for full-stack development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud/serverless infrastructure (AWS Lambda, GCP) and modern deployment practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
- Experience designing data pipelines, ETL workflows, or event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with lending regulations such as TILA or ECOA.
- Startup experience and familiarity with integrating loan servicers or payment processors.
