Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Manager, Accounting, will lead accounting-related functions to ensure the accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance of Celcuity’s financial statement close process. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading the close process.

This position is fully remote for those outside of the Minneapolis area and will be hybrid for local candidates.

Primary Responsibilities:

Financial close and reporting processes

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Lead complex accounting areas, including revenue recognition and gross-to-net estimates, equity compensation, collaboration agreements, and equity and debt financing.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust internal control procedures to mitigate financial reporting risks.
  • Assist with the preparation of SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other periodic filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal teams, and management to facilitate efficient quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Assist with the optimization of financial systems and accounting processes to improve operational efficiency and support accurate reporting.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and lead the accounting and accounts payable functions, fostering a collaborative environment focused on professional growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller, Controller and Vice President, Accounting and Financial Reporting on strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a manager role.
  • Strong background in financial close and internal control execution.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to determine accurate accrual estimates and alignment with budget forecasts.
  • Prior experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences strongly preferred.
  • Experience strengthening accounting systems, controls, and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with SOX, SEC and GAAP standards.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; seeking ways to drive innovation and efficiencies.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple processes and documentation requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence and build credibility at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
